Crafting Sustainability: The Design and Manufacturing Process of Cherry Grove Craft

At Cherry Grove Craft, we take pride in designing and manufacturing beautiful and sustainable items for our customers. Our process starts with inspiration – we are inspired by our hobbies, pets, and kids, as well as the environment around us. We believe that inspiration can come from anywhere, and we use this inspiration to create unique designs that our customers will love.

Once we have our design in mind, we use software called LightBurn to turn our ideas into reality. LightBurn is a powerful software that allows us to create intricate designs that can be engraved onto wood, bamboo, and other materials. We use this software to create prototypes of our designs on our laser engraver. This allows us to refine the design until we are happy with the final result.

Once we have the final design, we start sourcing the materials we need to make the item. We take great care to source our raw materials responsibly, ensuring that they are sustainable and eco-friendly. For example, we use natural jute string, sustainable oak veneered MDF, sustainable solid oak, sustainable Moso bamboo, and locally sourced slate. The only plastic we use is in our name badge fittings, and even then we use recycled plastic where possible.

Once we have all the materials we need, we take great care in making the item. We use the laser engraver to cut and engrave the design onto the material. We then sand everything by hand to ensure that it is perfect. This is a time-consuming process, but we believe that it is worth it to ensure that our customers receive the best possible product.

Once the item is ready, we take photographs to create a product listing on our website. We believe that it is important to showcase the item in the best possible way, and we take great care to create high-quality images that accurately reflect the item's beauty and quality.

When an order is placed, we try to 'gang up' various customer orders on one piece of wood to make the most efficient use of raw materials and energy usage. This not only helps to reduce waste, but it also helps to lower our carbon footprint. We also use paper-based packaging and paper tape, not plastic, to further reduce our impact on the environment.

Finally, we ship the item via Royal Mail, the UK's lowest carbon emitter per parcel. We believe that it is important to choose a delivery partner that shares our commitment to sustainability.

In conclusion, our design and manufacturing process is at the heart of everything we do at Cherry Grove Craft. We are committed to creating beautiful and sustainable items for our customers, and we take great care in every step of the process. From inspiration to design, sourcing to manufacturing, and packaging to delivery, we strive to ensure that every item we produce is of the highest quality and has the lowest possible impact on the environment.
