The standard oak and bamboo badges come in eight sizes. As a rule, the more you want on the badge, the larger it needs to be.

Lanyard badges are larger again — 85×55mm business-card size as standard — which is also the minimum for a scannable QR code.
Fastenings
Magnetic — the most popular choice. Holds securely with no pin hole, so it suits blouses, suits and uniforms with a no-pins dress code. Not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker. Pin only — the most secure option on thick fabric such as aprons, jumpers and outerwear. Pin and clip — a pin plus a horizontal clip that stops the badge rotating on lapels and lightweight fabric. Lanyard — worn around the neck, transferable between people and visible at a distance; standard for events, schools and visitor passes.
Oak or bamboo?
FSC-certified oak veneered MDF (4mm) engraves with uniform, high-contrast results, so every badge in a batch matches — the right choice for most offices, shops and multi-site teams. Indoor use only. FSC-certified Moso bamboo (certificate RINA-COC-001256) shows natural grain variation, is slightly more moisture-resistant, and gives you a certificate number to quote in sustainability reporting. What to engrave
Most organisations settle on a first name and job role with the logo. A surname is personal data under UK GDPR and is rarely needed on a customer-facing badge; a first name in large type also reads best across a counter. Yes. The sizes and materials are a standing range, so a single top-up badge for a new starter matches the original set when you use the same size, material and logo file.
Can the badge be used outdoors or where it gets wet?
Oak veneered MDF is for indoor use. Bamboo copes better with occasional damp, which is why hospitality teams often choose it, but neither is intended for outdoor use.
Do you make badges for care homes and healthcare?
