Each sign is print-ready at A4. For best results, print on 160gsm card and laminate. For outdoor use, use a waterproof lamination pouch and attach with exterior-grade fixings.
When a printed sign is not enough
Printed and laminated signs work well for temporary needs, classrooms that change purpose, and anywhere you need to put something up quickly. But they have a lifespan — lamination yellows, edges curl, and anything fixed near a sink or exterior door deteriorates fast.
For permanent locations — the main school entrance, corridor wayfinding, fire safety signs that are inspected annually, or anything that represents the school to visitors and parents — an engraved wooden sign is a better long-term investment.
Our school signs are laser-engraved on 4mm oak veneered MDF. The engraving is permanent, the sign does not fade, and a set of matching oak signs across a school entrance or corridor gives a consistent, professional appearance that a collection of laminated sheets cannot replicate.

Classroom door signs
A hanging or wall-mounted sign for each classroom door — engraved with the room name, year group or teacher name. Available in four sizes. Schools often order a full set for a corridor or year group block in one bulk order, which qualifies for automatic discount at checkout from 20 units.
Exam in Progress signs
The sign that disappears most reliably. A permanent engraved version on a door hanger — flipped between Do Not Disturb and room available — survives the exam season rather than getting lost in a pile of papers.
No Running signs
Wall-mounted oak signs for corridors, sports halls and stairwells. Durable enough for a school environment, clear enough to read at a glance.
Safeguarding and policy signs
Signs for reception areas and main entrances covering visitor sign-in, photography policy and safeguarding notices. Permanent engraved versions for anything that is inspected as part of an Ofsted visit.
Staff room and office signs

Are the printable signs free to use in school?
Yes — completely free to download, print and use. No attribution required, no sign-up.
Can I edit the signs before printing?
The pack is provided as print-ready PDFs. They are not editable, but if you need a specific wording variant that is not in the pack, contact us and we can add it to a future version.
Do the engraved signs come with fixings?
Hanging signs come with jute string. Wall-mounted signs have pre-drilled holes. Adhesive pads or appropriate wall fixings are not supplied but standard picture hooks or Command strips work on most school wall surfaces.
Can we add the school logo to the engraved signs?
Yes — use the logo upload button on the product page. Black and white artwork gives the sharpest engraving result. Send a vector or high-resolution file for best results.
Are the signs suitable for outdoor use?
Oak veneered MDF is for indoor use only. For external signs — fire assembly points, entrance gates — contact us to discuss solid oak with a weatherproof oil finish.
