Our Story

The name.

My mum's name was Cherry. We live on Maple Grove. And we make crafty things.

That's where Cherry Grove Craft comes from. I wanted a name that meant something rather than something made up in a branding meeting. That one felt right immediately.

Where it started.

I spent a long career in the printing industry — eventually building and running a company with 32 staff. When the industry got harder, I sold to a larger group and spent five years as their International Head of Marketing. Good job. Good salary. Safe.

But I'd always wanted to build something of my own again. Something I could put my name to. Something made with my hands, not managed from a spreadsheet.

In January 2023, I left. It wasn't a rational decision. Most partners wouldn't have entertained it. Suzy not only entertained it — she encouraged it. I'm not sure Cherry Grove Craft exists without that conversation, and I don't take that lightly.

I haven't looked back once.

What the workshop looks like.

A converted single garage in Wales. Two industrial laser engraving machines. A lot of oak, bamboo and MDF. Orders coming in, products going out, every one made to order from scratch.

No warehouse full of stock. No mass-produced blanks with a logo slapped on. Every sign, badge and keyring is made when you order it, to your specification, in that garage.

Suzy still has her day job — but she's also the best marketing brain I know, and when things get busy she rolls her sleeves up and helps. Our two kids pitch in from time to time as well. It's that kind of operation. The goal we're working toward is growing enough that Suzy can join full time. We're getting there.

Why made to order matters.

When something is made to order, it's made for you. Not for a shelf. Not for a catalogue photo. For your business, your event, your space.

It also means we don't overproduce. No waste, no excess stock, no plastic packaging. Everything that leaves here is wrapped simply and ships via Royal Mail Tracked. That's a deliberate choice, not an afterthought.

Who we make things for.

We started making personalised gifts and have grown into something more focused — wooden signs, name badges and keyrings for businesses, hotels, schools and events across the UK.

Hotels use our key tags and door hangers. Businesses use our name badges and QR code signs. Schools use our awards and leavers gifts. Event organisers use our table numbers and branded keyrings.

If it can be engraved on wood and it serves a purpose, we probably make it — or we can figure it out. Just ask.
