Our Story
Cherry Grove Craft is named after my mum, Cherry, and Maple Grove, where we live. I'm Pete. I started it in June 2022 as an Etsy shop alongside my day job, and since January 2023 it has been my full-time work: a one-person laser engraving workshop in North Wales, making personalised wooden products to order.
The name
My mum's name was Cherry. We live on Maple Grove. And we make crafty things.
That's where Cherry Grove Craft comes from. I wanted a name that meant something rather than something made up in a branding meeting. That one felt right immediately, and it still does.
Where it started
I spent a long career in the printing industry, eventually building and running a company with 32 staff. When the industry got harder, I sold to a larger group and spent five years as their International Head of Marketing. Good job. Good salary. Safe.
But I'd always wanted to build something of my own again. Something I could put my name to, made by me rather than managed from a spreadsheet.
Cherry Grove Craft began in June 2022 as an Etsy shop I ran alongside that job, to see whether there was an appetite for what I was making. There was.
In January 2023, I left the job. It wasn't a rational decision, and most partners wouldn't have entertained it. Mine encouraged it. I'm not sure Cherry Grove Craft exists without that conversation, and I don't take that lightly.
I haven't looked back once.
What the workshop looks like
A converted single garage in North Wales. Two CO2 laser machines. Sheets of oak veneered MDF and Moso bamboo, blocks of solid oak, birch plywood and natural slate. Orders coming in, products going out, every one made from scratch when it's ordered.
No warehouse full of stock. No mass-produced blanks with a logo slapped on. Every sign, badge and keyring is made when you order it, to your specification, in that garage, and I make every order myself. If you want the detail, how our products are made walks through each step.
Why made to order matters
When something is made to order, it's made for you. Not for a shelf. Not for a catalogue photo. For your business, your event, your space.
It also means I don't overproduce. There's no surplus stock to clear or send to landfill, offcuts and sawdust go to the council recycling facility in Buckley, and orders are packed without plastic. That's a deliberate choice, not an afterthought.

Who I make things for
Cherry Grove Craft started with personalised gifts and has grown into something more focused: wooden signs, name badges and keyrings for organisations, alongside gifts for individuals.

- For businesses: wooden name badges with names and logos.
- For schools and academy trusts: signs, badges, awards and leavers' gifts.
- For clubs and events: medals, trophies and rosettes.
