Accessibility Statement

This statement applies to the cherrygrovecraft.co.uk website. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, but we don't claim conformance at any level because the site hasn't had a full audit. Known issues are listed below. If you can't use part of the site, contact us and we'll try to help another way.

The website is run by Cherry Grove Craft, which makes personalised, laser-engraved wooden products to order in a workshop in Buckley, Flintshire, North Wales. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it.

What we have done so far

  • Product images have descriptive alt text explaining what is shown, including material, size and context where helpful. The exceptions are listed under known issues.
  • Page, collection and blog content is written with headings in a logical order (H1, H2, H3), so screen reader users can move through a page by heading.
  • Every page has a "Skip to content" link for keyboard and screen reader users.
  • Every page declares its language, so assistive technology reads the text with the right pronunciation.
  • Product descriptions use plain prose and properly formatted lists, with no emoji in body content.
  • Internal links use descriptive text, so the destination is clear without the surrounding sentence.
  • The announcement bar at the top of each page is plain text, with the emoji that used to appear there removed.

Known accessibility issues

We are aware of the following issues and are working to address them:

  • Missing alt text on a few product images: when we checked on 14 October 2026, 14 images across 7 products (six extra-large keyrings and a door hanger) had no alt text. Screen reader users won't get a description of those images until we add it.
  • Duplicate navigation in page code: the main navigation is rendered twice in the page HTML, once for desktop and once for mobile, which can cause screen readers to announce navigation links twice. This is a known behaviour of the Dawn theme and we are reviewing options to resolve it.
  • Product variant selector labelling: the "sold out or unavailable" status on product size and attachment selectors may not be announced clearly by all screen readers.
  • Product pricing announcement: on products not currently in a sale, some screen readers announce the "Regular price / Sale price" display twice. This is a known behaviour of the Dawn theme.
  • Third-party app accessibility: we use third-party apps for logo uploads, file uploads, personalisation fields and customer reviews. We can't fully control the accessibility of these components and are reviewing our options.
  • Colour contrast: we have not yet completed a full colour contrast audit against WCAG 2.2. It is on our remediation list.

Technical information

This website is built on Shopify using the Dawn theme (version 15.4.0). Checkout is provided by Shopify's platform, and we use third-party apps for file uploads, personalisation fields and customer reviews.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was first prepared in June 2026. It was last updated on 14 October 2026, when we re-checked the skip link, the page language declaration, the announcement bar and product image alt text; the other items above were not re-tested on that date. We will review it at least once a year, and after any significant change to the website.

For the background to this work, why we did it and what we found, read accessibility at Cherry Grove Craft. For ordering questions, see our FAQ.
