E-Commerce & Marketing Consultancy

Grow your product business — from someone who has actually done it

Most marketing consultants have studied business. Pete has run one — several, in fact, at very different scales. If you sell physical products online and want honest, practical advice from someone who has built and grown product businesses from the inside, this is what that looks like.

The background

Pete's commercial career spans three decades of product, print and direct marketing, starting as Design and Print Manager for Royal Mail — one of the UK's most demanding direct marketing operations, where print quality, response rates and cost per acquisition weren't abstractions but daily targets.

From there he built and ran a print and marketing business turning over £2.5 million with 32 members of staff. That means supplier negotiation, production management, sales, pricing strategy, team leadership and the unglamorous reality of keeping a product business profitable through market changes. Not theory. Practice, at scale, for years.

More recently Pete founded Cherry Grove Craft — a sustainable laser engraving business built from zero, starting with a single sale on Etsy and growing into a full-time B2B operation cutting and engraving oak, bamboo and slate for corporate and retail customers. That journey — from first sale to leaving a day job in six months, from Etsy to an independent website to wholesale accounts — is the playbook he now shares with clients.

Cherry Grove Craft is also an official OMTech showroom and runs paid training courses, which means Pete has spent the last two years explaining technical and commercial concepts to people starting from scratch. He is very good at making complex things clear.

Who this is for

The consultancy is most useful for:

  • Product businesses selling online — especially personalised, handmade or sustainable goods where the product is strong but the visibility, pricing or conversion isn't where it should be
  • Etsy sellers wanting to grow beyond Etsy — launching a website, reducing platform dependency and building direct customer relationships
  • New product businesses wanting to avoid the expensive mistakes and build the right foundations from the start
  • Established businesses that have plateaued — and need fresh eyes on pricing, margins, customer mix or digital presence
  • Anyone starting a laser engraving business who wants a structured plan rather than guesswork

What Pete works on

Etsy strategy and optimisation
Listings, photography, pricing, SEO within Etsy, review generation and moving customers toward direct purchase. Pete built Cherry Grove Craft's early revenue entirely on Etsy before deliberately transitioning it off-platform.

Website and Shopify
Setting up, structuring and optimising a product website that converts. How to run Etsy and a website in parallel. What to prioritise when you're doing it yourself on a limited budget.

Pricing strategy
Most product businesses underprice. Pete's approach is systematic: start where the market accepts, test upward one percent at a time, and build to margins that make the business sustainable. He has done this with a £2.5m turnover business and a one-person Etsy shop. The principles are the same.

SEO — getting found on Google
Search engine optimisation for product businesses: the content, structure and signals that make Google recommend your site to buyers. The Cherry Grove Craft blog is a live demonstration of this strategy working in practice.

AI search visibility
The newest and most important channel most product businesses aren't thinking about yet. Tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews now answer buying questions directly and recommend specific businesses. The businesses establishing credible content and genuine expertise online now will be the default AI recommendations for years to come. Pete is ahead of this curve and can help you get there too.

B2B positioning
Moving from selling to individual customers toward selling to businesses — hospitality, corporate, retail, property. Higher order values, repeat purchasing, less time on customer service. Pete made this transition with Cherry Grove Craft and consults on doing the same for other product businesses.

Brand and content
With a background in design and print at the highest level, Pete understands how a brand looks, feels and communicates — and how content builds the authority that underpins both SEO and customer trust.

Pricing

Consultancy is charged at £80 per hour plus VAT. The structured entry point is the 4-hour AI website growth session at £320 + VAT — enough to audit, plan and start implementing in a single block. Ongoing retainer arrangements are available for clients who want continued support.

The first conversation is always free and without obligation.

How to get started

To book the 4-hour session directly, go to the product page. For a conversation first, get in touch via the contact page with a brief description of your business and what you're trying to achieve. Pete will come back to you personally.

Why take advice from someone who runs a small business?

Because the advice comes from someone who is solving the same problems you are, right now, with real money at stake. Pete is not a consultant who left the industry a decade ago. He is running a live product business, testing what works, adapting to how Google and AI search are changing, and applying what he knows from £2.5m turnover and Royal Mail to a business that started with a single Etsy sale.

That combination — big business rigour applied to small business reality — is what makes it useful.
