What to Expect When You Order From a One-Person Engraving Workshop
Share
Ordering from a one-person workshop like Cherry Grove Craft means the person who engraves your order is the person who answers your questions. Everything is made to order, so dispatch time depends on the current queue and is shown at checkout; proofs are on request, reorders reuse your saved file, and bulk discounts apply automatically.
One person makes every order
Cherry Grove Craft is run by Pete, who makes every order himself in our workshop in North Wales on two CO2 laser machines. There is no account manager or production team in between: your questions go to the person who will engrave the job, and we aim to reply within one working day.
The trade-off is capacity. One person working through a queue means lead times move with demand, which is why a dispatch time is shown at checkout rather than a fixed number of days promised in advance.
Lead times and deadlines
Every item is made after you order, so the dispatch date shown at checkout reflects the current queue. It can be longer from October to December, the busy period.
If you are working to a firm date, such as an event, an opening or the last day of term, check the dispatch date before you order and contact us first if it is tight. You will get an honest answer about whether it can be done.
All items are made to order. Dispatch time is shown at checkout. UK orders via Royal Mail Tracked 24. International via Royal Mail International Tracked.
We ship to the UK (including the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands), the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland only. Transit times and duties are on international shipping.
Proofs and getting the wording right
Proofs are not standard, because sending one and waiting for approval adds time to every order. If you want to see the layout first, ask for a proof in the personalisation box and it is sent before engraving. If anything in an order looks unclear, we get in touch before engraving rather than guessing.
Engraving is permanent, so changes are usually only possible before an item is made. Type your wording exactly as you want it engraved, and contact us straight away with your order number if you spot a mistake. How personalisation works covers the wording step by step.
Logos and artwork
Products that take a logo have a logo upload button; products without one are text-only. Logos can be colour or black and white — we will convert colour logos for engraving. Setting your logo up on our template is free.
Ordering for a team, a school or a business
- No minimum on most products. You can order a single item at the normal price to check the finish before a larger order.
- Bulk discounts are automatic, per product line. 10% off 20+, 15% off 50+, 20% off 100+, 25% off 250+, 30% off 500+ and 35% off 1,000+, with no code or quote needed. Discounts count units of the same product, not the whole basket.
- Different names on each item. List one name per line in the personalisation box. For orders of 10 or more name badges you can also upload a spreadsheet of names; see how to order wooden name badges.
- Purchase orders. Include your PO number in the personalisation box, and ask before ordering if your organisation needs a formal quote or proforma first.
- Consistency across a batch. Oak veneered MDF engraves most uniformly; bamboo varies naturally from piece to piece.
Ranges designed for ordering in quantity include wooden name badges, company and business keyrings, hotel and hospitality supplies and products for schools.
Reorders
We keep the engraving file from every order, so a reorder for new starters, another site or spares doesn't need your artwork again. Add the same product to your basket, write "Reorder of order #____" in the personalisation box with your original order number and the new names, and leave the logo upload empty. The design, size and layout are matched to your original.
If something goes wrong
Every item is checked against the order before it is packed. Because items are personalised, returns are accepted only for a fault or an error on our part; see the refund policy. If an order arrives damaged or wrong, contact us with the order number and a photo.

Frequently asked questions
Is Cherry Grove Craft really one person?
Yes. Pete runs the business and makes every order himself in the workshop in Buckley, Flintshire, North Wales.
How do I know when my order will be dispatched?
All items are made to order. Dispatch time is shown at checkout. UK orders via Royal Mail Tracked 24. International via Royal Mail International Tracked. The date is based on the current queue, so check it before you pay if you have a deadline.
Can I get a proof before my order is engraved?
Yes, if you ask. Proofs are not standard; request one in the personalisation box and it is sent for your approval before engraving.
Is there a minimum order?
Not on most products. A single item is made the same way as a large order, so it is a fair way to check the finish. Bulk discounts start at 20 units of the same product.
How do I reorder the same design?
