Google Review Signs: Which Type Does Your Business Need?
Google review signs come in four formats: a QR code sign, an NFC tap sign, a coaster, or a hanging wall sign. Choose by where the customer is when you ask for the review: QR signs and NFC signs suit counters, tills and reception desks; coasters suit tables and bars; hanging signs suit doorways and waiting areas. Every format is laser-engraved to order in oak, bamboo or slate in our workshop in North Wales, and each one links straight to your Google review form.

QR code or NFC tap?
A QR code works with any phone that has a camera, in any lighting the camera can read, and the customer sees what they are opening before they tap. An NFC sign needs a phone with NFC switched on, which covers most iPhones and Android phones sold since 2017; the customer taps the sign and the review page opens without a camera. NFC suits a busy till where customers are already holding their phone to pay. QR suits tables, walls and anywhere the customer is a step away from the sign. The NFC chip is rewritable with a free NFC programming app, so the link can be changed later without a new sign.
Where to place a review sign
- Cafés and coffee shops: a freestanding QR or NFC sign beside the card reader, where the customer is already looking.
- Restaurants and pubs: a coaster or XL table sign at the table, so the request lands while the meal is fresh.
- Salons and barbers: a hanging sign at the mirror or a freestanding sign at the till.
- Hotels and B&Bs: a coaster in the room and an NFC sign at checkout.
- Clinics and offices: a freestanding sign at reception and a hanging sign in the waiting area.
How to find your Google review link
- Open your Google Business Profile (search your business name on Google while signed in).
- Choose Ask for reviews (shown as Get more reviews on some profiles).
- Copy the short link and paste it into the personalisation box at checkout.
Use the review link, not your website address or Maps listing. If the wrong link is supplied the code will open the wrong page and the sign will need to be remade. Any other link, such as a Trustpilot or TripAdvisor review page, works the same way.

Frequently asked questions
Does a Google review QR code expire?
No. The code points at the review link from your Google Business Profile, which stays the same while the profile exists. The engraved code does not change, so keep the profile active.
Can I test the sign before customers use it?
Yes. Scan or tap it with your own phone as soon as it arrives. It should open your review form directly; if it opens anything else, contact us with your order number.
Can one sign link to Google and Trustpilot?
A freestanding or coaster sign carries one code. For several platforms on one sign, choose the multi-platform review sign, which carries up to three separate codes, or point one code at a page that lists all your review links.
Which material should I choose?
Oak veneered MDF signs and coasters are FSC-certified and suit most interiors. Bamboo coasters are FSC-certified Moso bamboo (certificate BV-COC-190523) and are sold in packs. Slate coasters give a dark background with a pale engraved code and suit bars and restaurants.
