A design your own Christmas bauble laser engraved from a drawing your child makes now — this page walks through getting a drawing that engraves well, from pen choice to photographing it. The artwork is traced from your uploaded photo onto a 100mm disc of 4mm FSC-certified oak veneered MDF with a jute string for hanging. Made to order in our workshop in North Wales.

How to order

  1. Draw on white paper, A5 or larger, with a black felt tip or soft pencil. Keep to one subject — a snowman, Father Christmas, a star. Only dark marks engrave; colour will not show
  2. Photograph or scan it in good light, straight on, with the whole sheet in frame. Keep the original in case you want a retake
  3. Use the upload button on this page to add the image
  4. Add your wording in the personalisation box — what you want at the top and at the bottom, for example the child's name and year
  5. Add to basket. Ordering for a nursery or class? Add the product once per child with each image and name; bulk discounts apply automatically from 20 units

FAQ

What kind of drawing engraves best?
Bold, closed outlines in black pen. Thin pencil lines and shading come out faint; large filled areas come out as solid dark patches. A single subject at least 5cm tall on the paper gives the clearest result at 100mm.

Can I use a handprint instead of a drawing?
Yes, but the two handprint pages are set up for it: the baby handprint Christmas bauble if you are taking the print now, or the baby handprint bauble if you already have one.

Which design your own bauble should I choose?
This one if the drawing is still to be made. If you already have the artwork — a picture from the fridge, a doodle, any image — the design your own wooden bauble is engraved straight from a photo of it.

Packaging

We keep our packaging simple with a rustic feel and, more importantly, kinder to the environment. All packaging is paper-based, including the tape used to seal parcels, and is sourced from responsibly managed forests.

Materials & Care

Our products are made from natural materials, including:

• Oak veneered MDF – ideal for indoor use, not suitable for damp or outdoor environments

• Bamboo – more water resistant and suitable for items like name badges, but lightweight and not recommended for outdoor signage in windy conditions

To ensure longevity, we recommend keeping all items dry and avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture.
