The standard wording and camera icon are laser-engraved on FSC-certified oak veneered MDF with a removable base, and your business name, purpose and contact details can be engraved alongside them — so the sign carries everything UK data protection guidance expects. Two sizes, single or double-sided. Made to order in our workshop in North Wales.

What a CCTV sign should say

The Information Commissioner's Office does not prescribe a format, but expects a CCTV sign to make four things clear: that CCTV is in operation, who operates it, why, and how to contact the operator. The standard wording covers the first; add your name, a purpose such as “for crime prevention and safety”, and a contact route in the personalisation box to cover the rest. Frequently asked questions

Do I legally need a CCTV sign?
If your camera records anyone outside your own household — customers, guests, staff, or passers-by — yes. UK GDPR requires that people are told they are being recorded, and a visible sign is how that is done.

Freestanding or wall-mounted?
Signs are needed at every entrance to a monitored area, which usually means a wall sign by the door; this freestanding version is for the counter, reception desk or till point. For the wall, see the CCTV in Operation hanging sign in four sizes.

Can I add my company name and contact details?
Yes — add them in the personalisation box and they are engraved alongside the standard wording and icon.

Packaging

We keep our packaging simple with a rustic feel and, more importantly, kinder to the environment. All packaging is paper-based, including the tape used to seal parcels, and is sourced from responsibly managed forests.

Materials & Care

Our products are made from natural materials, including:

• Oak veneered MDF – ideal for indoor use, not suitable for damp or outdoor environments

• Bamboo – more water resistant and suitable for items like name badges, but lightweight and not recommended for outdoor signage in windy conditions

To ensure longevity, we recommend keeping all items dry and avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture.
