A larger-format Please Make Up My Room bamboo door hanger — engraved onto 5mm FSC-certified Moso bamboo (certificate RINA-COC-001256) at 210×89mm, the same size as our Do Not Disturb / Refresh & Renew hangers, rather than our original compact 89×144mm Please Make Up My Room design. One side reads "Shhh..." for quiet moments, the other "Please Make Up My Room" — simply flip it round depending on what your guest needs. Personalise with your hotel or guesthouse name or logo. Made to order in our workshop in North Wales.

How is this different from your original bamboo Please Make Up My Room hanger?
Two things at once: this is 5mm bamboo rather than 3mm, and it's a larger 210×89mm format rather than the original 89×144mm size. If you're fitting out rooms with our Do Not Disturb / Refresh & Renew hangers, this size keeps everything consistent across a full set. If you'd rather keep the original compact size, our original 89×144mm bamboo version remains available in 3mm.

Why does thickness matter for bamboo?
Bamboo is genuinely strong along its fibres but can be prone to splitting if real pressure is applied across the grain — a well-documented property of the material, not a manufacturing defect. A thicker cross-section gives a crack more material to work through before it can propagate, meaningfully improving resistance to this specific failure mode. Do you offer this in oak, or in the original compact size?
Yes to both, separately. Our oak version is the original 89×144mm size. If you specifically want this larger 210×89mm format to match a Do Not Disturb set, get in touch before ordering and we'll advise on oak availability at this size.

Does this match the size of your Do Not Disturb hangers?
Yes — 210×89mm with a 51mm handle hole, identical to our 5mm Do Not Disturb hanger. Useful if you want a matching pair for a full room set.

Packaging

We keep our packaging simple with a rustic feel and, more importantly, kinder to the environment. All packaging is paper-based, including the tape used to seal parcels, and is sourced from responsibly managed forests.

Materials & Care

Our products are made from natural materials, including:

• Oak veneered MDF – ideal for indoor use, not suitable for damp or outdoor environments

• Bamboo – more water resistant and suitable for items like name badges, but lightweight and not recommended for outdoor signage in windy conditions

To ensure longevity, we recommend keeping all items dry and avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture.
