A railway long service and retirement award sign in the style of a British station nameboard — the recipient's name across the middle, their depot, line or company on the top line, and years of service and dates underneath. A presentation piece for railway staff, heritage railway volunteers and rail industry retirements that reads as a station board rather than a plaque. Laser-engraved on FSC-certified 4mm oak veneered MDF in four sizes. Made to order in our workshop in North Wales.

How to order

  1. Choose your size from the dropdown — Medium or Large for a presentation, Extra Large for a mess room or club wall
  2. Type the three lines in the personalisation box, top to bottom: depot, line or company · recipient's name · years of service and dates (for example "40 Years' Service — 1985 to 2025")

Frequently asked questions

What should the three lines say for a retirement?

Depot, line or company on top; the person's name in the middle; years of service and dates underneath. Volunteers' awards often use the railway's name on top and the role underneath instead.

Can I add a company logo?

Add a note in the personalisation box and we will advise — black-and-white logos engrave cleanly. We don't reproduce historic railway company logos or trademarks.

How is this different from the other railway station signs?

Same nameboard and sizes. The full-size station sign is for rooms and doors with a station name; the model railway sign is for layouts. This listing is set up for a name and years of service.

Do you make other long service awards?

Packaging

We keep our packaging simple with a rustic feel and, more importantly, kinder to the environment. All packaging is paper-based, including the tape used to seal parcels, and is sourced from responsibly managed forests.

As each item is made to order, we can only accept returns where there is a manufacturing issue or we are at fault.

Materials & Care

Our products are made from natural materials, including:

• Oak veneered MDF – ideal for indoor use, not suitable for damp or outdoor environments

• Bamboo – more water resistant and suitable for items like name badges, but lightweight and not recommended for outdoor signage in windy conditions

To ensure longevity, we recommend keeping all items dry and avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture.
