Christmas Gifts for Pupils From Their Teacher: Class-Set Ideas, Timing and Tips
Share
The easiest whole-class Christmas gift is a small named keepsake that isn't food: a personalised bauble, keyring or token for each pupil, ordered as one class set from a spreadsheet of names. It avoids allergy questions, every child gets the same gift with their own name on it, and a bauble goes back on the family tree every year.
This guide covers what to give, how to order 30 different names without typing them, wording for classes where not everyone celebrates Christmas, and when to order so it arrives before the last day of term. Everything mentioned is laser engraved to order in our workshop in North Wales.
Why not sweets?
In England, food in the classroom now comes with paperwork. The Department for Education's statutory guidance Allergy safety in schools, published on 6 July 2026 for maintained schools and academies in England, says schools should seek parents' permission in advance when food is brought in as treats or for birthdays. For group activities, it says schools should find alternatives that work for the whole group rather than leaving individual children out. The same guidance notes that around one in five children and young people with an allergy have their first reaction at school or another education setting.
A wooden keepsake sidesteps all of that. It has no ingredients, needs no permission slip, and no child ends up with a different present because of what they can't eat. Check your own school's allergy policy either way.
Four class-set gifts that work
1. A named Christmas bauble
Our school Christmas baubles come in five designs, each 100mm across in 4mm FSC-certified oak veneered MDF with a ribbon loop in green, red, silver, gold or jute:
- Snowflake and Gingerbread Man: the pupil's name across the middle.
- School Logo & Message: your school motto or a message, with the logo below.
- The More We Learn: a standard message with your school logo below.
- Snow Scene: a message of your choice, with the year if you want it.
The student recognition bauble is plainer: the pupil's name and class year, with room for a short line such as "Star of Year 3". A bauble comes out again with the decorations every December.

2. A bauble with the child's own drawing
For a class that likes making things, each child draws a picture in black felt tip on white paper and it is engraved onto their own bauble. The design your own Christmas bauble page explains how to get a drawing that engraves well, and the Nadolig Llawen bauble adds the Welsh greeting above the drawing for Welsh-medium and bilingual schools. These can't be ordered from a spreadsheet: add the bauble to your basket once per child, each with its own drawing and name, so it takes a little more organising than a name-only design.

3. A named keyring
Keyrings clip onto a school bag and get used all year. The student keyrings, in FSC-certified oak veneered MDF, take any quantity (there is also a pack-size version), the gingerbread and star keyrings are birch plywood with a festive shape, and the star-shaped You're a Star keyring comes in two sizes and carries the child's name. The keyrings have a metal split ring; the hug token has none.

4. A You're a Star hug token
The You're a Star hug token is a small star-shaped token in FSC-certified oak veneered MDF, engraved with "You're a Star" and the child's name. It has no hole or ring, so it fits in a pocket or pencil case.

Which costs least?
The hug token is the lowest-cost option per pupil, followed by the oak and birch student keyrings. The school baubles cost more, and the drawing baubles cost the most, because each drawing is traced individually. Current prices are on each product page.
Ordering 30 names without typing them
- Make a spreadsheet: one column of names, one pupil per row, spelt exactly as they should be engraved. Nothing else is needed.
- Upload it in the Names Spreadsheet field on the product page, or type the names into the personalisation box, one per line.
- Set the quantity to the number of pupils and add to basket.
- Mixing designs? Add each design as a separate line with its own quantity and names.
Names are engraved exactly as you send them, so check spellings, capitals and accents against the class list before you upload. First names usually work; add an initial where two pupils share a name.

Bulk discounts apply automatically at checkout, per product: 10% off 20+, 15% off 50+, 20% off 100+, 25% off 250+, 30% off 500+ and 35% off 1,000+. The average primary class in England had 26.1 pupils in 2025/26, so one class set of a single design usually reaches the 10% tier, and two classes ordering the same design together pass 50 and reach 15%.
Wording for a class where not everyone celebrates Christmas
If some families in your class don't celebrate Christmas, choose a gift without Christmas wording. The keyrings and hug token carry no festive wording at all, and the student recognition bauble carries just the pupil's name and class year. Of the school Christmas bauble designs, Snowflake and Gingerbread Man carry only the pupil's name, although a bauble is still a Christmas-tree decoration.
When to order for Christmas 2026
Work back from your last day of term, not from Christmas Day. Royal Mail's last recommended posting date for Tracked 24 in the UK is Monday 21 December 2026, so if your term ends before then, your real deadline is earlier.
- Collect and check the names. Get the class list from the school office and check every spelling.
- Order with time to spare. Our dispatch time is shown at checkout. Aim for the gifts to arrive at least a week before the last day of term, leaving room for a late joiner or a misspelt name.
- Choose the delivery address. Send it where someone will be in to take the parcel, whether that's the school office or home.
All items are made to order. Dispatch time is shown at checkout. UK orders via Royal Mail Tracked 24. International via Royal Mail International Tracked.
A gift from the class to the teacher
If parents want to club together for the teacher, the School Logo & Message design of the school Christmas bauble takes the teacher's name and a message from the class. For wording ideas, see what to write on a personalised Christmas bauble.
Frequently asked questions
What can a teacher give a whole class for Christmas?
A small named keepsake that isn't food, such as a personalised Christmas bauble, keyring or token for each pupil. It avoids allergy questions, every child gets the same gift with their own name, and a bauble comes out again every December.
Should teachers give pupils sweets at Christmas?
Check your school's allergy policy first. In England, the Department for Education's statutory guidance Allergy safety in schools (July 2026) says schools should seek parents' permission in advance for food brought in as treats or for birthdays. A non-food gift avoids the question.
How do I order personalised gifts for a whole class?
Make a spreadsheet with one pupil's name per row, upload it in the Names Spreadsheet field on the product page, and set the quantity to the number of pupils. Names are engraved exactly as written, so check the spellings first.
Do bulk discounts apply to a class set?
Yes. They apply automatically at checkout, per product: 10% off 20 or more, 15% off 50 or more, and higher tiers from 100. A typical class of around 26 pupils ordering one design reaches the 10% tier.
When should I order Christmas gifts for my class?
Work back from your last day of term. Royal Mail's last recommended posting date for Tracked 24 in the UK is Monday 21 December 2026, and our dispatch time is shown at checkout. Aim for delivery at least a week before term ends.
