A cash preferred sign laser-engraved onto 4mm oak veneered MDF — a straightforward, honest way to let customers know you'd rather take cash without turning anyone away. Hung with a natural jute string loop. Four sizes to suit a market stall, shop counter, café wall or door. Made to order in our workshop in North Wales.

Standard wording: Cash Preferred Please. Add your own wording in the personalisation box if you need something different — for example "Cash Preferred — Card Accepted" or "We Prefer Cash."

Which Cash Preferred format to choose

We engrave this wording in four formats. All are 4mm oak veneered MDF, laser engraved, for indoor use.

  • Wall or door, hanging — this sign. Four sizes, 102×74mm up to 270×190mm, on a jute string loop through two pre-drilled holes.
  • Counter, freestanding — the Cash Preferred counter sign at 74×112mm or 115×168mm, single or double-sided on a removable base.
  • Counter, freestanding, larger — the XL Cash Preferred sign at 164×235mm, the same design scaled up for a busy stall.
  • Landscape, wall or counter — the A5 and A4 Cash Preferred sign at 210×148mm or 297×210mm, with an optional flat-pack stand.

If you no longer take cash at all, the Card Payments Only sign and Cashless Payments Only sign say so plainly instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change the wording?

Yes — add your preferred text in the personalisation box at checkout. Common alternatives include "We Prefer Cash", "Cash Preferred — Card Accepted", "Cash Preferred Please — Contactless Available" and "Cash Payments Preferred."

Does this come freestanding or hanging?

This version hangs on a wall or door with a jute string loop through two pre-drilled holes. For the same wording on a counter, see the Cash Preferred freestanding counter sign or the larger XL freestanding version.

What is the difference between this and the Card or Cashless signs?

The Cash Preferred sign is for businesses that accept both cash and card but prefer cash — it signals a preference without turning anyone away. The Card Payments Only and Cashless Payments Only signs are for businesses that no longer accept cash at all. Choose whichever reflects your actual policy.

Can a business refuse cash, or ask customers to pay it?

Do you do bulk orders?

Yes — bulk discounts apply automatically from 20 units: 10% off at 20, 15% at 50, 20% at 100 and more at higher quantities. Useful for market traders, independent shops and hospitality venues with multiple serving points.

Can I add my business name or logo?

Yes — add your business name or wording in the personalisation box. For logo engraving, send your artwork after ordering. Black and white logos engrave best; colour logos can usually be converted.

Packaging

We keep our packaging simple with a rustic feel and, more importantly, kinder to the environment. All packaging is paper-based, including the tape used to seal parcels, and is sourced from responsibly managed forests.

All items are made to order.

As each item is made to order, we can only accept returns where there is a manufacturing issue or we are at fault.

If there are any problems with your order, please contact us and we’ll resolve it quickly.

Materials & Care

Our products are made from natural materials, including:

• Oak veneered MDF – ideal for indoor use, not suitable for damp or outdoor environments

• Bamboo – more water resistant and suitable for items like name badges, but lightweight and not recommended for outdoor signage in windy conditions

To ensure longevity, we recommend keeping all items dry and avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture.
