Welsh Gifts: Personalised Wooden Gifts Made in Our North Wales Workshop

Search for Welsh gifts online and a lot of what comes back has never been near Wales — dragon motifs printed overseas and shipped in bulk. Everything on this page is different: each piece is made to order in our workshop in Buckley, Flintshire, a few miles from the North Wales coast. If you want a Welsh gift that is genuinely made in Wales, personalised in Welsh or English, this guide covers what we make and how to order it.

What makes a gift Welsh?

There are three honest answers: it was made in Wales, it carries the Welsh language, or it carries a Welsh design such as the dragon. Our Welsh gifts collection covers all three — signs, keyrings, coasters and medals, each one engraved to order rather than pulled off a shelf.

Gifts engraved in Welsh

The Welsh language is the heart of the range. The Nain Gorau & Taid Gorau sign is our most popular Welsh-language piece, and the Ar Agor / Ar Gau open closed sign in solid oak is a double-sided bilingual sign for shops and cafés. For smaller gifts, our Welsh proverb oak coasters and Welsh slate coasters carry traditional sayings.

You can also have your own Welsh words engraved on most personalised products — Penblwydd Hapus for a birthday, Diolch for a thank-you, Nadolig Llawen at Christmas, or a line your family always says. Type it into the personalisation box exactly as you want it to appear. One note on dialect: families in the north say Nain and Taid, while Mam-gu and Tad-cu are used in the south — type whichever yours uses and that is what we engrave.

Gifts for Taid and Nain

Grandparent gifts are what we are asked for most. The Best Nain & Best Taid sign comes in English wording, and the Nain Gorau & Taid Gorau version is fully in Welsh — both available individually or as a pair, in four sizes, in oak. They work for birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, or simply because Taid deserves one.

Welsh dragon gifts

The dragon appears across the range: the Welsh dragon sign in four sizes for the wall, the personalised Welsh dragon keyring — popular with hotels, clubs and individual buyers alike — and the Best Dad / Dad Gorau medal, which carries the dragon with wording in English and Welsh.

Welsh gift ideas by occasion

  • Birthdays — a sign or set of coasters engraved with Penblwydd Hapus and their name.
  • Christmas — Nadolig Llawen engraving, or browse our Christmas decorations for personalised baubles.
  • Weddings and anniversaries — see our wedding and anniversary gifts, all of which can carry Welsh wording.
  • A cwtch from afar — our hug tokens are small enough to post in a card when you cannot deliver the cwtch in person.
  • A new home — Croeso makes a fitting engraving for a housewarming sign.
